Cambodian media reported that Laos and Cambodia have formally agreed to jointly market their tourism sectors under a unified “Two Countries, One Destination” campaign, strengthening bilateral cooperation to attract international tourists.

The agreement was concluded during the second Cambodia-Laos Tourism Ministers’ Meeting in Phnom Penh on Monday, December 15, 2025.

Cambodian Minister of Tourism H.E. Huot Hak met with Laos’ Deputy Minister of Information, Culture, and Tourism H.E. Darany Phommavongsa to finalize tourism strategies.

The two ministers endorsed an updated joint action plan for 2025–2026. This plan aims to improve travel facilitation, enhance human resource development, and intensify joint marketing efforts.

At the heart of the strategy is the launch of the “Two Countries, One Destination” initiative, a jointly branded campaign that will promote integrated tourism experiences, highlighting cultural heritage and culinary traditions. Community-based tourism and ecotourism routes are being developed across both countries.

In a statement, Cambodia’s Ministry of Tourism expressed confidence that strengthened cooperation would significantly increase the number of tourists. Officials from both countries emphasized that increased tourism would promote economic growth, improve local livelihoods, and strengthen the long-standing relationship between Cambodia and Laos.
