The Lao People’s Democratic Republic and the Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste officially signed an agreement on visa exemption for holders of ordinary passports, aiming to promote and facilitate travel between the two countries.
The agreement was first signed on October 8, 2024, in Vientiane, and came into effect on August 15, 2025.
Under the agreement, citizens of both countries holding ordinary passports are exempt from visa requirements when traveling to other countries for tourism purposes for stays of up to 30 days.
For stays of longer than 30 days, travelers must apply for a tourist visa, which may be extended in accordance with the laws and regulations of the host country.
Officials from both sides confirmed that the agreement will enhance people-to-people exchanges, strengthen friendship, and expand cooperation between Laos and Timor-Leste.
