Today, February 4, 2026, in Ban Kham Ngoi, Xaysettha District, Vientiane Capital (VCC), an official handover ceremony was held for the Vientiane Capital Wastewater Treatment Plant and wastewater pipeline system, which has a treatment capacity of 26,000 cubic meters/day and can be expanded to 52,000 cubic meters/day with modern MBBR technology according to EU standards.

The ceremony was attended by Dr. Atsaphangthong Siphandone, Mayor of Vientiane Capital, along with Mr. Péter Szijjártó, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Hungary, and a high-level delegation from various sectors.

The project received an interest-free but conditional loan from the Hungarian government and people worth US$100 million, which is another important step in developing VCC into a green, sustainable and environmentally friendly city.
