Xinhua News Agency reported that the China-Laos Railway in southwestern Yunnan Province, China, has seen the total number of freight trains operating along the route exceed 60,000 as of September 19, 2025.
The total freight volume exceeded 67.6 million tons, including over 15 million tons of cross-border trade. It has also significantly boosted tourism along the route. The number of daily domestic passenger trains has increased from eight to a peak of 86, carrying a cumulative total of 48.6 million passengers. In Laos, daily service has increased from four to 18 trains, the company said.
