The official opening ceremony of the Laos-Vietnam Friendship Park was held on December 2 in Ban Dan Xang, Xaythany District, Vientiane Capital.
With the participation of Comrade Thongloun Sisoulith, General Secretary of the Party Central Committee and President of the Lao PDR, Comrade To Lam, General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee, members of the Politburo, Secretaries of the Party Central Committee, members of the Central Committee of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party and the Communist Party of Vietnam, ministries and organizations of Laos and Vietnam, and young people, attended.
Comrade Nguyen Tri Dung, Deputy Prime Minister of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, said: The Laos-Vietnam Friendship Park is not only a landscape project serving the community, but also a living symbol of the sincere and rare relationship between the two nations.

This project demonstrates the determination and attention of the two Parties, two States and two peoples to preserve and enhance the precious heritage that President Ho Chi Minh, President Kaysone Phomvihane and President Souphanouvong have enriched. It is a cultural gift and spirit of the Party, State and people of Vietnam to the Lao Party, State and people of our brotherhood. On the occasion of the great anniversary, when the park is used to become a modern cultural and ecological institution, a place for people from Vientiane and abroad to come and relax, organize community activities, and also a red area for the young generation of Laos and Vietnam to learn about the historical events related to the two nations.
Therefore, we continue to increase our responsibility and promote the tradition of Vietnam-Laos solidarity. In the international and regional environment, which has changed in a complex way, the work of strengthening Laos-Vietnam solidarity has become more and more important in terms of strategic significance.
The Lao-Vietnam Friendship Park contributes to further strengthening cooperation between the two nations in the fields of politics, economy, culture, education, tourism and people-to-people exchanges, thus bringing real value to the sustainable development of each country and the common interests of the region.

Comrade Phet Phompiphak, member of the Party Central Committee and head of the Party Central Committee’s Office, said: In accordance with the agreement of the two parties, the two governments and the Politburo of the two countries, and in implementing the spirit of the Agreement on the 2025 Cooperation Plan and the Minutes of the 47th Meeting of the Bilateral Cooperation Committee between the Government of the Lao PDR and the Government of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, in establishing the Lao-Vietnam Friendship Park in the Lao PDR, after the official opening ceremony of the Lao-Vietnam Friendship Park construction project, the project management committees of both sides have been closely coordinating.
The project was initiated on March 31, 2025 in Vientiane Capital between the Office of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Laos on behalf of the Lao Project Management Committee and the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism on behalf of the Vietnamese Project Management Committee, with a total value of 340,471,500,000 VND; of which the Lao PDR Government’s contribution is 9 billion kip (equivalent to 10,471,500,000 VND) and the Vietnamese Government’s grant is 330 billion VND.
So far, the project has been carried out in accordance with the guidance of the Politburo of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Laos and the Steering Committees of both sides, which has made progress and achieved many good achievements, especially the tasks have been completed by 99 percent.
This project is a project with profound historical and political significance between the two parties, two states and the two peoples of Laos and Vietnam. It is not only a symbol of the great friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between our two nations, but this beautiful Laos-Vietnam Friendship Park has become an important historical and cultural tourist attraction, a place to organize various activities, a place to relax, exercise, play for children and young people, and a place for future generations to study and research about the special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between the two nations of Laos and Vietnam.
