The top leaders of the Cambodian People’s Party (CPP) and the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party (LPRP) expressed satisfaction with the current situation of security, safety, and peace along the Cambodian-Lao border.
They emphasized that 86% of the border demarcation between the two countries is complete, with the remaining 14% still being resolved peacefully. This was stated by Cambodian PPP President Samdech Thechot Hun Sen and LPRP Secretary-General Thongloun Sisoulith during their bilateral summit at the Royal Palace in Phnom Penh on February 7, 2026.

According to Cambodian PPP spokesman Chea Thairit, the meeting took place during Thongloun Sisoulith’s two-day visit to the Kingdom of Cambodia.
During the discussions, both sides reviewed cooperation within the inter-party framework, focusing on implementing agreements reached at the previous meeting in Vietnam in 2025, which will continue until 2026.
With concrete and practical results. The two leaders emphasized the importance of strengthening trilateral relations between the Cambodian People’s Party (CPP), the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party (LPRP), and the Communist Party of Vietnam.
Both sides stressed the strong potential for expanding bilateral cooperation, particularly through enhanced exchanges between youth and future leaders. The visit by the two leaders demonstrates their efforts to maintain and strengthen the long-standing friendship between Laos and Cambodia.
Mr. Thongloun Sisoulith expressed his deepest gratitude to the CPP, the Cambodian government, and the Cambodian people for their continued support and assistance to Laos, reflecting the close relationship between the two neighboring countries based on mutual trust and solidarity.

The two leaders agreed to encourage their respective governments to expand cooperation, especially as Cambodia and Laos celebrate the 70th anniversary of diplomatic relations. Various celebratory events, including cultural activities, will be held to commemorate this significant occasion.
The discussions also covered cooperation in defense, trade, and economic development. Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to maintaining a peaceful, stable, and secure border, emphasizing that the Cambodian-Lao border remains a border of peace, friendship, and cooperation.
Furthermore, both sides pledged to intensify joint efforts to combat cross-border crime and build lasting security along the border. Currently, bilateral trade amounts to approximately US$250 million.
The leaders of both countries recognized the enormous untapped potential and expressed a shared goal to increase trade volume to approximately US$700 million in the near future.
Following the meeting, the leaders also presided over the signing ceremony of the 16th Summit Report and an agreement on a cooperation plan between the Cambodian People’s Party (CPP) and the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party.
