Minister of Foreign Affairs Thongsavanh Phomvihane welcomed Turkish Ambassador to the Lao PDR Ms. Oya Yasa at the Ministry on February 10, 2026.
Reaffirming the two countries’ commitment to strengthening friendship, expanding cooperation and promoting common development, during the visit, Mr. Thongsavanh congratulated Ambassador Oya Yasa on her appointment and expressed confidence in her role in strengthening the long-standing cooperation between Laos and Turkey.
Both Laos and Turkey emphasized the growth of bilateral relations since the establishment of diplomatic relations on June 26, 1958, which is built on trust, respect and support in regional and international forums.
In the future, both sides agreed to increase high-level delegations, cooperation in economic, trade, investment, tourism and people-to-people exchanges.
Ambassador Oya Yasa thanked the Minister of Foreign Affairs for the warm welcome and reaffirmed her commitment to strengthening friendship and cooperation between the two countries in the years to come.
