Inflation in Laos surged to 9.7% in March 2026.
Vientiane – Inflation in Laos jumped to 9.7 percent year-on-year in March from 6.2% in February, the Lao Statistics Office reported on Sunday.
The highest price increase was recorded in the goods and services category, at 39.8 percent, according to the report published on the office’s website.
The surge in inflation in March was largely driven by instability in the Middle East, which hampered the production and transport of fuel oil.
However, the report noted that recent stability in the Lao kip has helped to lessen additional pressure on import costs by mitigating the impact of exchange rate fluctuations.
