Laos Deploys Over 2,000 Police to Provide Security for That Luang Festival and Trade Fair 2025

Vientiane authorities will deploy over 2,000 police officers to maintain security and order during the That Luang Festival and Trade Fair 2025, which will be held from November 1-5 at That Luang and the Lao-ITECC Exhibition Center.

The Subcommittee on Security for the That Luang Festival and Trade Fair 2025 police officers will be deployed in key areas: one unit will be stationed at the festival site and another unit will manage traffic throughout Vientiane.

Additional police officers will be patrolling key intersections, checkpoints, and all nine Metropolitan Police Stations to respond quickly to emergencies and maintain smooth traffic flow.

Police have urged the public, vendors, and visitors to abide by festival regulations, protect personal property, and use only designated parking spaces to avoid traffic congestion and theft.

Officials also advised festival attendees to check electrical systems before leaving their homes. Avoid carrying large amounts of cash and attach parental tags to children’s bags.

The use of weapons, explosives, fireworks, sky lanterns, and other prohibited items is strictly prohibited except by authorized personnel. Drone operators must register with the organizing committee before flying over the event area.

Officials said this security plan is aimed at ensuring a safe, orderly, and enjoyable celebration, while honoring Lao cultural heritage.
