Two Lao students won first prizes, marking a historic milestone for Laos as it was the first time Lao students had won in this prestigious regional competition.
The pair won for their innovative project, the “Data Minions Platform,” which harnesses artificial intelligence and data science to solve real-world problems.
Their work stood out among entries from all 10 ASEAN member states, reflecting their technical excellence and creative problem-solving.
The two students received scholarships from the Singapore government in 2017 to pursue high school and university studies there. Now in their final years at universities in Singapore, Mr. Palinya and Ms. Manivong represent Laos with outstanding determination and talent.
Their victory not only demonstrates the talent of Lao youth in technology and innovation, but also inspires youth nationwide to pursue excellence in science, technology, and data-driven research.
This remarkable achievement underscores Laos’ growing participation in regional academic and technology initiatives and strengthens the country’s position in the rapidly evolving fields of artificial intelligence and data science.
