US President Donald Trump signed a proclamation adding five more countries to the list of countries whose citizens are banned from entering the United States, either in whole or in part. This brings the total to 40 countries.

The five new countries whose citizens are banned entirely or with partial restrictions from entering the US are: Burkina Faso, Mali, Niger, South Sudan, and Syria.

In addition, two countries that previously had a partial travel ban have been expanded to full entry in this proclamation: Sierra Leone and Laos. However, Venezuela, which is currently in serious conflict with the US and for which the US previously had a partial travel ban, remains subject to the ban and continues to have limited restrictions.

This brings the total number of countries banned from entry by the Trump administration from 12 to 20, and the number of countries with partial travel bans from 7 to 20, for a total of 40 countries.
